Domingos Rodrigues de Pinho was born in Porto, on 29 July 1937.

In 1960 he completed the Preparatory Studies for the Painting course and enrolled at the Porto School of Fine Arts, completing the General Painting Course in 1966 with the final mark of 17 out of 20, and the Complementary Studies in painting in 1969 with full marks.

He stepped down in 2001 and retired the following year.

Domingos Pinho was a fellow of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, which enabled him to travel to the major European artistic centres (1966) and study the 20th Century realism (1978).

Rodrigues de Pinho painted since he was 15, having experimented different pictorial styles such as geometrization, abstractionism, hyper realism, metaphysical painting and expressionism. He exhibited his work in group exhibitions since 1957 and solo since 1963.
His work is exhibited in various Portuguese museums, such as the National Museum Soares dos Reis, in o Porto, Municipal Museum Amadeo de Souza-Cardoso, in Amarante, Museum of Ovar, Municipal Museum of Estremoz, National Museum of Contemporary Art and the Modern Art Centre of Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, in Lisbon. His work is part of private collections in both Portugal and abroad. In 1986, the Nasoni Gallery in Porto held an anthology exhibition of his work.

Prémio Rodrigo Soares (1966) / Prize Rodrigo Soares (1966)He was one of the founders of Cooperativa Árvore (Árvore – Cooperativa de Atividades Artísticas), in 1963, and of the art magazine "Paisagem". He also worked as a graphic artist and illustrator.

He received many awards for his work, among which the awards "José da Costa Meireles" (Drawing), "Rodrigues Soares" (Painting), "D. Ricardina da Costa Meireles", "Rotary Club do Porto" and "Três Artes".

A great admirer of Picasso, he lived and worked between Porto and Gerês.

He died on 17 October 2024.
